The best way to get rid of crap is to format. That way, you don't have any incompatible residual libraries or stuff like that.

I'd format if I were you.

ok, that's what i thought. and since i've limited the amount of stuff i put on the computer already, it shouldn't be a big deal.

thanks for the help!

Does Vista suck that badly?  I have a free (and legit!) copy sitting around but I haven't wanted to install it, which is odd because generally I can never leave well-enough alone.

well, it's new, and mocrosoft is fairly notorious for never releasing something you could classify as "stable." i guess it'd work better if i limited myself to all microsoft products, but i'm not about to do that.

vista is also annoying to use, as most new iterations of an OS is. vista is taking a turn for the dumbass, however. it took me FAR too long to figure out how to change the refresh rate on my monitor, because vista didn't think that was something anyone would want to do. basically, vista is trying to appeal to those people who don't want a computer that apple has traditionally had a strangle hold on. i, who want to have a computer (and if i may be so bold as to say know how to use one), am not happy with how technophobic i am being treated.
